My name is Koichiro Nakatani. It is my great pleasure to take JPEA presidency succeeding Mr. Aki Mitsui, who served the tenure for four years from 2006 to 2009, two terms in a row. I took office in June, 2010. Japanese photo imaging industry has changed a great deal since the so-called Lehman Shock, suffering global economic recession. We have been trying hard to survive as an industry association, which is unique in a way to release English-language newsletter. So your continued support as members is of great help to us. The photographic industry has become totally electronics industry and we believe the importance of the imaging technology will further expand, and in that tide we JPEA members would like to take a unique position to interact between optical and electronics industries and Japanese and overseas industry members. We believe that it is most important to meet members face to face, but unfortunately we have obliged to stop having friendly gathering on such events as photokina and PMA show. So when you visit Tokyo, please let us know to have a meeting with domestic members. For domestic members we have a monthly meeting called  "JPEA Collaboration Forum" to seek business opportunities by introducing their specialized technologies and products between members.  In the meantime, we are looking forward to seeing you in September at PMA2011/CliQ in Las Vegas, Nevada, U.S.A. Our door is wide open to anyone who is interested in the imaging industry to become a JPEA member.
